Lisa Brooten, Radio, Television, and Digital Media, is lead editor and co-author of four chapters in “Myanmar Media in Transition: Legacies, Challenges and Change.” This 21-chapter volume is the first overview of the Myanmar media landscape, and brings together academic and practitioner perspectives to explore developments in journalism, filmmaking, social movement media and social media during this country's current historical transition from authoritarian rule.
Rita Dove, former U.S. Poet Laureate, selected “Flirtation,” a poem by Allison Joseph, MFA creative writing director, for her May 3 New York Times poetry column.
Kenneth Stikkers, Philosophy, recently presented a lecture, “Pragmatisms's Response to Plato," at Roma Tre University in Rome, Italy, and also conducted a series of graduate seminars on William James' “Principles of Psychology” at Ca’Foscari University in Venice, Italy.
Jacob Juntunen, Theater, was recently named a regional managing editor for TheTheatreTimes.com. Since its launch in November 2016, the global theater portal has published more than 2,700 articles covering theatre in 88 countries and regions.
“Confessions of a Barefaced Woman” by Allison Joseph, MFA creative writing director, continues to earn accolades. The semi-autobiographical work is on the Grand Prize Short List for the Eric Hoffer Book Awards and a finalist for the Milt Kessler Poetry Book Award out of Binghamton University. Joseph’s “Corporal Muse” is also a Hoffer grand prize short list nominee.
