SIU profs among recipients of $120K in innovation grants 

Four SIU faculty members are part of multi-university, interdisciplinary teams receiving a total of $120,000 in grants from the Illinois Innovation Network.


New leadership in Faculty Senate, Civil Service Council  

Bethany Rader and Elizabeth Cheek were recently elected to lead the Faculty Senate and Civil Service Council, respectively.


Lone Star College advisers visit SIU campus 

Fourteen advisers from Lone Star College, which has more than 80,000 students on its campuses in Texas, are visiting SIU Carbondale this week to explore opportunities for LSC graduates to continue their education here. The advisers’ itinerary includes touring campus facilities, such as the Glenn Poshard Transportation Education Center, University Farms and Fermentation Science Institute, and learning about Saluki Step Ahead, select degree programs and support services. 


Showcase SIU at the Du Quoin State Fair on Sept. 2

Academic units, departments, student organizations and individuals will have an opportunity to showcase the great programs and services that SIU Carbondale provides to our region and beyond as a part of SIU Day at the Du Quoin State Fair on Saturday, Sept. 2.


Reminder: Volunteers needed to help students move in Aug. 16-18 

Openings are available for faculty, staff and units on campus to help create a positive first Saluki impression by helping new and returning students move into residence halls in August prior to the start of the fall 2023 semester. Volunteers who register before July 24 are guaranteed a T-shirt.


Reminder: SIU employees get special offer for Sam Hunt concert  

There are still seats available to see country music star Sam Hunt perform on Aug. 3 at Banterra Center, and SIU Carbondale employees can get a special discount when they buy tickets. 


SIU welcomes 1,150 youth conference attendees next week

The campus will be a busy place July 18-21 as the university hosts the largest youth program for summer 2023. About 1,150 high school students and chaperones will be attending the Beyond Reasonable Doubt – Higher Things Conference 2023.
