‘Metamorphoses’ hits SIU’s Moe theater stage Feb. 25-March 1
A series of Greek myths adapted from a poem by the ancient Roman poet Ovid transforms into modern-day life when “Metamorphoses” comes to the Christian Moe Laboratory Theater, Feb. 25-March 1.
SIU students claim third prize at national tax competition
A team of SIU Carbondale students finished third in the nation recently in the National Deloitte FanTAXtic Case Competition, besting such venerable universities as Brigham Young, Marquette, Florida State, North Carolina State and University of Illinois Chicago.
SIU Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band to showcase ‘AMERICANA’ Feb. 25
Nearly 80 SIU Carbondale students will pay tribute to the nation’s 250th anniversary when they present “AMERICANA” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Shryock Auditorium.
Virtual appointments available for faculty, staff regalia sale on March 19
Events and Outreach is announcing a virtual faculty and staff regalia sale through Herff Jones, a national provider of custom regalia. Graduate students wishing to purchase rather than rent regalia are also welcome to participate.
Budget management report training for non-state funds set
The Office of Administration and Finance is offering in-person training sessions beginning today (Feb. 23) to help SIU Carbondale employees learn how to access and use the new Budget Management Report in PowerBI, with a focus on non-state funds. Training sessions are available this week through Thursday, Feb. 26.
Region 8 Science Fair happening Tuesday at SIU
More than 150 students in grades 7-12 from throughout the region will visit campus for the Illinois Junior Academy of Science Region 8 Science Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 24. The students are competing in 19 different project categories as diverse as aerospace science to physics and consumer science to zoology as they vie for thousands of dollars in prize money for themselves and their schools.
Explore the industrial hemp-growing industry at Feb. 25 SIU event
Learn all about growing industrial hemp for grain and fiber at SIU Carbondale’s Industrial Hemp Farmer Informational Event, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the Gower Translational Research Center in Carbondale. The session is free, but participants are asked to pre-register online.

Southern Illinois Drug Awareness Conference highlights power of community partnerships
SIU Carbondale will host the Southern Illinois Drug Awareness Conference, March 12-13, bringing together a diverse group of people to address substance use, mental health and homelessness and how these issues connect. Registration is underway.
