‘PHOENIX’ dance concert debuts on McLeod Theater stage
“PHOENIX — A Dance Concert,” which will showcase the diverse dance talents of SIU Carbondale students and guest artists, will take the McLeod Theater stage Friday through Sunday, Feb. 14-16. Directed by Darryl K. Clark, associate professor in musical theater dance, the performance will celebrate the recent reorganization of the College of Arts and Media that advanced the Department of Theater into the School of Theater and Dance.
SIU leaders watching the weather
With the possibility of snow this week, SIU leaders continue to monitor the forecast. Fermentation science student gets co-op position with St. Nick’s
Students with SIU Carbondale’s fermentation science program are putting their brewing skills to use through a new co-op program with a local beer maker that provides part-time employment and training opportunities.
Kappa Alpha Psi establishes scholarship
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. – Gamma Upsilon Chapter has established the Dream Achievers Scholarship, which supports Black men pursuing their bachelor’s degrees at the university. 1992 SIU Carbondale alumnus Reggie Townsend discusses the gift.
Red Cross blood drive is Feb. 13 in Morris Library
Help join the fight against sickle cell disease as the American Red Cross and Morris Library host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, in the library’s first-floor rotunda. To schedule an appointment, visit the Red Cross website.
Sign up now for free mental health first aid certification training
All SIU faculty, staff and students are welcome to participate in free mental health first aid certification training, courtesy of Student Health Services’ Wellness and Health Promotion Services. You can choose a session on March 10 or May 15.
Reminder: Sturgis Public Service Award nominations due soon
The deadline for nominations for the Lindell W. Sturgis Memorial Public Service Award, which honors an SIU Carbondale employee for their community work away from campus, is soon. Nominations must be received by Feb. 21.
