Lt. Gov. Stratton visits SIU
Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton was on campus Feb. 29 and March 1 to visit with women business owners and leaders at the Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center and then speak with about 600 young women from Illinois FFA chapters, along with industry supporters, at the Women Changing the Face of Ag Conference in the Student Center and enjoy the exhibits.
SIU celebrating Women’s History Month with guest speakers and more
Sheila Caldwell, vice president for antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion and chief diversity officer for the SIU System, kicks off Women’s History Month today (March 4) at 4 p.m. in Morris Library’s John C. Guyon Auditorium. This year’s theme is “Women Who Advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.”
SIU community members can apply now for Green Fund grants
A workshop to assist applicants seeking Green Fund grants is from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, in the Student Services Building Rooms 150/160. All SIU students, faculty, staff, registered student organizations, offices and departments can submit a Green Fund grant proposal by April 1.

Southern Illinois Crossroads Eclipse Festival organizers are looking for participants in the Crossroads Astronomy, Science, and Technology Expo. CASTE is an opportunity to promote your organization, share knowledge, demonstrate your special talents or raise awareness about an issue. Three Illinois high school students win inaugural SIU Creative Futures art contest
The talents of Illinois high school juniors and seniors are on display with the School of Art and Design statewide Creative Futures online art competition. There were 99 entries from students in 27 high schools from throughout the state competing in three categories — 2D art, 3D art and design and digital art.
Reminder: A/P performance evaluations due April 1
University policy requires that all administrative/professional staff have their work evaluated on an annual basis between Jan. 1 and March 31. The rating period to be used for evaluations for 2023 is Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. Evaluation forms are on the AIS e-forms website. For more information regarding formal and informal performance evaluations, visit the performance evaluation website. Completed evaluations should be sent to Labor and Employee Relations at LER@siu.edu or mail code 4319 by April 1. Reminder: Roundtable talks to examine support for first-year students
Faculty, staff and graduate assistants are invited to attend two first year experience roundtable discussions this semester about supporting students in their first year at SIU Carbondale. The first of two discussions is 8-10 a.m. Thursday, March 7.
SIU Today spring break schedule
SIU Today will also take a spring break next week. The last issue before spring break is Thursday, March 7. The submission deadlines remain the same. The deadline for the March 7 edition is Tuesday, March 5. SIU Today will then resume on March 18.
Ryan Bioethicist in Residence lecture postponed
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the 2024 John and Marsha Ryan Bioethicist in Residence lecture set for today (March 4) by Dr. Senait Fisseha has been postponed to another time to be determined.
