SIU celebrating International Festival 2023 Feb. 6-10

The university celebrates diversity, inclusiveness and SIU’s global reach with a variety of special events this week, beginning today, Feb. 6. “Nurturing the World Through Diversity” is the theme of this year’s festivities, which include a wide variety of events, all open to the public.


Conversation on fostering welcoming and belonging on campus is Feb. 14 

A Conversation of Understanding next week will look at the 2022 Campus Climate survey that found concerns about faculty, staff and students feeling welcomed and belonging on SIU campuses. Faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members are invited to join the live virtual discussion at noon Tuesday, Feb. 14. U.S. News ranks SIU’s online MBA program top in Illinois 

Southern Illinois University Carbondale earned a top ranking from U.S. News & World Report for the 2023 Best Online MBA Programs. The No. 58 rank put SIU atop all other Illinois institutions of higher learning.


LGBTQ Resource Center will hold Valentine’s Day Bash

The university’s LGBTQ Resource Center will be hosting a Valentine’s Day Bash from 3 to 5 p.m. Feb. 14 in the Student Services Building, Rooms 150 and 160.


Valentine’s Day Craft Sale invites public, vendors

The Valentine’s Day Craft Sale offers a great opportunity to find a special gift for your loved ones or yourself. The popular event is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 14 in the Art Gallery, on the first floor of the Student Center. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.


WSIU-TV starts new afternoon schedule today

Beginning Feb. 6, PBS will provide eight hours of children’s programming on the daytime schedule, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by the addition of a wide variety of new programming from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The weekday afternoon schedule now includes a mix of lifestyle and “how-to” programming, along with encores of prime-time programs that appeal to adults watching broadcast television.
