Day of Giving nets over $3.5M

The SIU Day of Giving reached new heights this year by raising over $3.5 million from more than 2,400 donations in 24 hours. In its six years of existence, the Day of Giving has brought in more than $10 million. In the evening, Chancellor Austin Lane announced the expansion of the Forever SIU fundraising campaign to a goal of $500 million to be raised by the SIU Foundation.

Registration is open for Advocates and Allies: The 2022 SIU Conference on Women, set for March 18, and hosted by Southern Illinois University Carbondale.


Saluki Pride: Rachel Frazier looks to find solutions that benefit students, staff

As a three-degree SIU Carbondale alumna who is working on a fourth degree, Rachel Frazier, interim director, Office of the Registrar, strives to relay those same positive experiences in working with undergraduate students and university staff. Trinka Pape, admissions and records coordinator, notes Frazier “always gives more than 100% to serve the undergraduate student population as well as the admissions and advising teams.” Nominating a colleague is easy; simply fill out this form.


COVID vaccine booster clinic is open today

The Illinois Department of Public Health will hold a “Boost Before Break” clinic in the Renaissance Room at the Student Center from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. today, March 3, for faculty, staff and students who want to receive a booster for their COVID-19 vaccines. Pfizer, Moderna and J&J boosters will be available. You can register online in advance. Walk-ins will also be accepted.


Member of House Intelligence Committee to speak at Paul Simon Institute event

U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, is the first guest of a new Congressional Conversation series hosted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.


Judges needed for student research and creative activities forum

Organizers with the Research and Creative Activities Forum are looking for faculty and graduate students to assist in judging an event that showcases top student research and creative activities.


‘Illinois Ethics Matters’ newsletter is available

The monthly Illinois Ethics Matters newsletter for February 2022 is available. The Office of Executive Inspector General publishes the newsletter to allow state employees to stay informed of current issues relating to ethics. The SIU System Ethics Office website is siusystem.edu/ethics.
