Benyas to lead all-state high school orchestra 

Edward M. Benyas has stood on many raised podiums throughout his career, directing orchestras featuring some of the nation’s most talented musicians. Benyas, a professor of oboe and conducting in the School of Music, will reach another milestone when he directs the 2022 Illinois All-State Orchestra in Peoria on Saturday, Jan. 29. 


On-campus testing schedule adjusted

The university is adjusting the on-campus testing schedule at Grinnell Hall for employees and students to Tuesdays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Wednesdays, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., until spring break. For more information about testing, visit our COVID website.


Supplemental retirement options discussion set for Friday 

Human resources staff and Kip Leverton, who is with the Mid-Illinois Group at Morgan Stanley, will be available in the Chancellor’s Faculty-Staff Lounge at Old Main in the Student Center to discuss 403b supplemental retirement options and answer questions regarding SIU Carbondale employee retirement goals.


Public service loan forgiveness webinars set 

University employees with student loans may be eligible for federal student loan forgiveness. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission is hosting free virtual public service loan forgiveness webinars this week, beginning Tuesday, Jan. 25. SIU offering first community glassblowing class and more 

Conference and Scheduling Services is offering two public sessions of “Introduction to Glassblowing Intensive.” The first session starts Feb. 1.
