Bobbi Knapp’s service, leadership earn her Women of Distinction Award

Bobbi Knapp, an associate professor in kinesiology, embodies a demonstrated commitment to women, gender equity and diversity illustrated through leadership, vision, or actions or service while inspiring students and others to work toward equity, serve others and excel.


‘There is still much work to be done’ 

SIU President Dan Mahony notes that even with the conviction of a former Minneapolis police officer in the murder of George Floyd, there is a need to recognize that in our country, on our campuses and in our communities, the work to face and overcome systemic racism together continues.


Conversation about race and athletics is Tuesday

The final Conversations of Understanding for the spring 2021 semester will explore the history of race and athletics in the United States, with special attention to athletic programs at SIU. Faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members are invited to join the live virtual discussion at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 27.


Donations sought for ‘Recycle Your Bicycle’ 

An opportunity to help future Salukis in need will be offered again through a bicycle donation program during residence hall move-out, May 3-7.


Encourage spring semester graduates to complete survey

Faculty and staff are being asked by the Career Development Center to remind students of a survey for undergraduate and graduate students who are planning to graduate next month.


Saluki Food Pantry holds spring drive on Thursday

Faculty and staff are reminded of donations being sought to support the Saluki Food Pantry. The food drive is Thursday, April 29. 


COVID-19 vaccines available at Banterra Center

The Jackson County Health Department has scheduled COVID-19 vaccine clinics for this week at Banterra Center for any Illinois resident age 16 and older. This includes in-state and out-of-state SIU students with a university ID. Visit the health department’s website for more information.


Sunset Concerts canceled in 2021 

The Sunset Concert Series, a Carbondale summer tradition dating back more than 40 years, is extending its hiatus through 2021.
