Chancellor to deliver State of the University Address on April 26 

Chancellor Austin Lane will deliver a virtual 2021 State of the University Address at 3 p.m. Monday, April 26. He will share updates from his first year at SIU and include recognition of the 2021 Faculty and Staff Excellence Award winners. To watch live, go the university’s YouTube channel.


Strategic plan survey available to faculty, staff

Faculty and staff are reminded of a strategic plan survey to provide feedback on how the university is performing and to help outline future goals. The survey is 100% anonymous and will take 15-20 minutes to complete. The survey will be open until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, April 22. The link is provided in the April 13 email from Chancellor Austin Lane.


Open forums set with College of Health and Human Sciences dean finalists

Five candidates for dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will meet with constituents during a series of virtual forums, beginning Thursday, April 22.


COVID-19 vaccines available in Jackson County

The Jackson County Health Department has scheduled COVID-19 vaccine clinics for this week at Banterra Center for any Illinois resident age 16 and older. This includes in-state and out-of-state SIU students with a university ID. Visit the health department’s website for more information.


Lecture, presentation to detail Audubon’s work

A discussion on Thursday, April 22, at Morris Library will celebrate the paintings of naturalist John James Audubon and his travels throughout the region.


Paul Simon Institute to host virtual talk with Illinois’ poet laureate

Illinois Poet Laureate Angela Jackson will discuss her writing and her vision of Illinois in a virtual conversation on Thursday, April 22, hosted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.


SIU Carbondale inducts 24 students into Phi Kappa Phi honor society

Twenty-four graduate and undergraduate students were inducted into the university’s chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society during a virtual ceremony on April 14.
