Flu immunizations are available this week

A second round of free flu immunizations for all active and retired SIU Carbondale employees, as well as surviving spouses enrolled in a state sponsored health plan, will be administered by the Jackson County Health Department at drive-up clinics Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 14-15. To allow for social distancing and to expedite the registration process, appointments and preregistration are encouraged. The Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) is providing free flu immunizations until Nov. 15.


Saluki Athletics rummage sale is Oct. 24

Saluki Athletics is hosting a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 24 at Saluki Stadium. The public is invited to attend the sale, which will include shirts, pants, footwear, jerseys and more, all at substantial discounts. To ensure safety, several COVID-19 measures will be in effect during the sale.


Political science faculty to discuss what’s at stake in 2020 election 

A panel of eight political science faculty from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and SIU Edwardsville will provide their expertise for the virtual discussion “Election 2020: What's at Stake?” at 11 a.m. Oct. 19 to discuss the local, national and international arenas in the upcoming Nov. 3 election. 


Virtual lecture about works of Russian female film directors 

A virtual discussion on Tuesday, Oct. 13, will examine why the works of 12 female animation film directors in the Soviet Union and Russia should be included in the tradition of women’s cinema.
