Former president of Ireland will hold virtual discussion on global challenges
Mary Robinson, the former president of Ireland who also served as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, will share her thoughts on climate change, human rights, and other global issues during a virtual discussion next week hosted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.
SIU launches website reporting active cases
The university has launched a website to report the number of active, positive COVID-19 cases of students, faculty and staff that have been confirmed by the Jackson County Health Department. Additional information is available on the site.
Virtual conversation on hate speech and social media is Tuesday
Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to join a live virtual discussion on Tuesday on hate speech and the use of social media in higher education. The discussion is from 5 to 7 p.m. and will be available on the SIU System’s YouTube Channel. The SIU System President’s Office and the SIU System Diversity Advisory Council are discussion sponsors.
