New Schools Launch

On July 1, SIU Carbondale launched seven new schools as part of our ongoing academic reorganization. One of the first steps in creating a new school was to identify its leadership.  More 

First Saluki Center will support SIU’s first-generation students

The university is introducing a new First Saluki Center, designed to make the college transition even easier for first-generation students. The center, launched by a seed grant from the SIU Foundation, is essentially a one-stop shop enabling the university’s first-generation students to easily access the help, resources, mentorship and peer support they need to succeed.

McNair Scholars will present research efforts on Friday

Thirteen undergraduate students who are participating in a program that prepares them for careers in research will present their work at the 16th annual McNair Summer Research Symposium on Friday.

Chinese students explore the SIU experience

A group from Northeast Normal University in China arrived Saturday for a two-week Saluki Summer Experience. 

University Museum accepting art submissions for exhibits in 2020

Local artists have a unique opportunity to display their work, with University Museum accepting submissions for new exhibits.

Tickets available now for concert and dinner benefitting SIU’s Morris Library

Friends of Morris Library’s annual fundraiser Sept. 21 in the Student Center Ballrooms will feature a performance by Fiddle Rick and the Bourbon Boys and a catered meal. 

WSIU animated short submission is PBS Online Film Festival entry

“Balloon Girl,” a film by a project partner of WSIU Public Broadcasting, is one of 25 films featured in the 2019 PBS Online Film Festival. 

SIU will host pro fastpitch softball game July 27

Charlotte West Stadium will be the host site for the July 27 National Pro Fastpitch game between the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois and the Cleveland Comets.
