Faculty, staff reminders for eclipse day

Faculty and staff are encouraged to review information about eclipse-day volunteering and parking, eclipse glasses and staffing of offices. The university is still seeking volunteers to assist on eclipse day. Employees can sign up online.


Fulbright Fellowship applications now being accepted 

Fulbright Fellowship applications are now under review by the university’s Fulbright committee. Project proposals and personal statements must be submitted no later than Sept. 15. Completed materials can be emailed to Melinda Yeomans, SIU Fulbright Program adviser and associate director, University Honors Program, and Cheryl Barnett, interim associate director, Center for International Education.

The Department of Public Safety’s August 2017 issue of the “Saluki Watch Dawg” is available. This month’s edition includes information on the Aug. 21 total solar eclipse, violence prevention and response training offerings, and a reminder on parking decals.

‘Illinois Ethics Matters’ newsletter available 

The monthly Illinois Ethics Matters newsletters for August is available. The Office of Executive Inspector General for the agencies of the Illinois governor publishes the newsletter as a way to stay abreast of current issues relating to ethical matters. The university’s Ethics Office website is at http://ethics.siu.edu/. The website contains information regarding how to file a complaint and the relevant contact information, as well as many other resources.
