Outdoor weather siren test planned Friday

On Friday, April 22, the Carbondale Office of Emergency Management will be testing the outdoor weather warning sirens, including sirens on campus, at 10 a.m.  It may be necessary to activate the sirens several times for repair purposes.  This test will not include the BERT radio system.  In the event of severe weather, all testing will be postponed.


SIU teams finish in the top 10 in NASA competition

Two teams from SIU finished in the top 10 during this year’s Human Exploration Rover Challenge, held April 8-9 in Huntsville, Ala. More


Saluki football spring game is Saturday

The Saluki football spring game is at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at Saluki Stadium. This will be your opportunity to see the 2016 football team up close. Fans will also have an opportunity to buy season tickets and pick their seat location. The Saluki football team and coaches will be available to sign autographs and take photos after the scrimmage. Admission is free. The day also includes the Saluki Yard Sale, as well as Chase Rice performing at the SIU Arena at 7 p.m. 


Touch of Nature to host open house, paddling event

Paddling across the water, rock climbing, zip lining, interpretive hikes and assorted other adventures await participants at a free May 7 event at Touch of Nature Environmental Center. In addition, the Student Center, in conjunction with Touch of Nature, is hosting the Reel Paddling Film Festival, a documentary short film tour, and a silent auction on May 6. More


Athletic camps for youths available this summer

The university is hosting several athletic camps for youths of various ages this summer. More


SIU Student Sustainable farm stand open on Wednesdays

The SIU Student Sustainable Farm is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., every Wednesday through Oct. 26. The farm stand is outside the of the agriculture building near the road. Visitor parking is available. Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares are also available in full, one-half and student shares for a bag of vegetables each week. Saluki Yard Sale pre-event is Friday

The Saluki Athletic Department is hosting an exclusive yard sale this weekend. Faculty and staff are invited to the pre-sale on Friday, April 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Saluki Stadium. Credit cards are accepted. Plan to provide your SIU ID for entry. The yard sale is also open to the public on Saturday, April 23, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. SIU apparel, shoes, sports equipment, jerseys and throwback items are available.
