Omid Kamran Disfani, assistant professor, School of Management and Marketing, recently provided information on WalletHub.com about using co-branded credit cards.

Deborah Barnett, associate director, SIU Research Park, and Karen Stallman, agriculture resource specialist with the Illinois Department of Agriculture and Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Center for Rural Health and Social Service Development, recently participated in the Delta Regional Authority's Executive Leadership Training at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. They were among 39 people selected in a competitive process to participate from the eight-state Delta region.

Dr. Sameer Vohra, founding chair of the SIU School of Medicine’s Department of Population Science and Policy, was appointed July 12 by Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker to serve as director of the Illinois Department of Public Health beginning August 1.

Scott Collins, director, School of Health Sciences and program director, medical dosimetry and radiation therapy, recently received the 2022 Outstanding Achievement Award from the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists. The award is the highest an individual can receive from the organization.

Ken Bro, chief flight instructor and program coordinator, SIU Aviation, was interviewed by Flying Magazine Online about someone with a disability enrolling in a flight school to pursue a private pilot certificate.

Cinzia Padovani, associate professor in the School of Media Arts, presented a paper titled "Social Media Regulation, Freedom of Speech and the Ultra-right: a case study of Italian neo-fascist organizations and Facebook” at an international biannual conference organized by the Journal of Italian Cinema & Media Studies. It ran June 16-18 at The American University of Rome, Italy.
