“Shifting Discourse on Climate and Sustainability: Key Characteristics of the Higher Education Fossil Fuel Divestment Movement,” by Leslie Duram, Geography and Environmental Resources, and Dylan Gibson, a recent graduate student in the program, was published recently in the top international journal, “Sustainability.”  The research describes the student-led movements to encourage U.S. universities to divest from fossil fuels and fills a gap in research into this important aspect of climate change action.

Cinzia Padovani, associate professor, Radio, Television, and Digital Media, will continue her work on British media and the ultra-right during the next year as an academic visitor with the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Loughborough in the United Kingdom.

Jan Thompson, director of the School of Journalism, gave a virtual presentation on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, to the Los Gatos, California Rotary Club. Thompson’s presentation was on the story of American POWs in the Philippines during World War II and based on her nearly 30 years of research including three documentaries.
