Sandra Watts, Radiologic Science and program director of Radiology, was elected vice president of the Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technologists at the 81st annual conference in Peoria, April 20-22.

Seven faculty members from the College of Education and Human Services presented at the 2016 American Educational Research Association annual meeting in Washington, D.C., April 8-12. Faculty presenting were Peter J. Fadde, Curriculum and Instruction; Todd C. Headrick, Jennifer Koran, Rhonda Kowalchuk and Yanyan Sheng, Counseling, Quantitative Methods, and Special Education; Sosanya Jones and Glenn Allen Phillips, Educational Administration and Higher Education.

Stephen C. Shih, Information Systems Technologies, has a paper “Designing Intelligent Field Service Systems with Integrated Use of Big Data Analytics and Internet of Things,” accepted for the 26th International Conference on Flexible Automation and Intelligent Manufacturing. The conference is in Seoul, South Korea in June.

Rolando Gonzalez Torres, School of Architecture, has an article titled “Alternative outlines of immigration: A case of repopulation of existing abandoned Spanish towns," published on Taylor & Francis Online “Journal of Architecture and Urbanism.”

Jacob Haubenreich, Languages, Cultures, and International Trade, has received invitations for two expenses-paid research residencies this summer. In June, Haubenreich will be a visiting scholar at the German Literature Archive in Marbach, Germany; in July, he will be visiting scholar in the Institute for Corpus Linguistics and Text Technology at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna, Austria.

Cynthia Sims, Workforce Education and Development, and Malar Hirudayaraj, a doctoral program student, co-authored a peer-reviewed journal article, “The Impact of Colorism on the Career Aspirations and Career Opportunities of Women in India,” in “Advances in Developing Human Resources” February 2016 issue.

Seung-Hee Lee, Fashion Design & Merchandising, is co-author of a paper “Neglected Aspects of Innovation Function: Public Motivation and Non-Pecuniary Values,” accepted for publication in “Science, Technology, & Society (SSCI Journal).” Lee is also a co-author on two extended abstracts accepted for presentation at the Midwest Business Administration Association (MBAA) International Conference, sponsored by the Marketing Management Association, April 13-15, in Chicago.

Three Dental Hygiene faculty members presented at the American Dental Education Association annual session and exhibition in Denver, Colo., March 12-15. Charla Lautar and Faith Miller presented a poster, “Dental Hygiene Students’ Perceptions Participating in a Dental Sealant Program,” while Joan Davis and a co-presenter showcased  “Progress in Tobacco Dependence Education: Where Does Your School Stand?” Davis also presented “How Marijuana Legislation is Shaping Tomorrow.”

Nancy Martin, Information Systems Technologies, has been accepted to become an ABET Program Evaluator in information technology and information systems. ABET stands for Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, a non-profit, non-governmental organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Tom Imboden, Information Systems Technologies, received a “Distinguished Service for Education” recognition from the computer information technologies program at Kaskaskia College in Centralia on Feb. 25.
