SIU welcomes new and returning students to campus this week

As classes begin on Monday, the campus community is welcoming new and returning students with a variety of events during Saluki Startup and Weeks of Welcome.


Saluki Pride: Seung-Hee Lee’s research benefits students

Seung-Hee Lee, a professor in the School of Architecture’s fashion design and merchandising program, is described as an “outstanding teacher and extraordinary researcher” who has advanced her work in many dimensions to her students’ benefit. She is featured this week in Saluki Pride, which profiles faculty and staff whose work is integral to the university’s success. Nominating a colleague is easy; simply fill out this form.


Paul Simon Institute will host champion of Illinois’ Asian American history law

The co-sponsor of an Illinois law that made the state the first to require that Asian American history be taught in public schools will join the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute for a virtual event next week.


Saluki FanFest returns later this month

Saluki Athletics will host its 10th Saluki FanFest on Aug. 25 at Saluki Stadium from 7 to 8 p.m. Parents can sign up their children (age 12 and under) for Brown Dawg’s Kids Club and receive a free membership T-shirt.


SIU Alumni Association awards student scholarships

The SIU Alumni Association is awarding more than $74,000 to 68 new and returning students for the 2021-22 academic year.
