Salukis hard at work for enrollment

Although it’s too early to make specific projections for fall 2021, the numbers so far are promising, thanks to the efforts of Salukis across campus, in our community and across the nation.

Doctoral student studies endangered pallid sturgeon DNA to save it

Richard Flamio, a doctoral student and research assistant at SIU’s Center for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences, recently helped federal scientists manipulate the DNA of the federally endangered pallid sturgeon in order to improve conservation tactics to save it.


Additional COVID-19 vaccines available this week

SIU faculty, staff and students can receive the first or second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines at clinics at Banterra Center and the Carbondale Civic Center this week. The Jackson County Health Department has clinics today through Thursday, April 12-15, at both locations.


‘Velocity’ touches down at the Transportation Education Center

The latest addition near the north entrance of the Transportation Education Center, a 22-foot tall fabricated steel sculpture by SIU alumnus John Medwedeff, fits perfectly with the mission inside the building – training students in the automotive and aviation industries.


SIU students will present MFA thesis exhibitions this month

The School of Art and Design will present the culminating work of seven artists who will graduate in May earning the Master of Fine Arts degree through the presentation of their thesis exhibitions.


Saluki Event Planners RSO can help plan campus events

The Saluki Event Planners, a registered student organization affiliated with the Meeting Professionals International Association, is available to help campus organizations, departments and units plan events – both virtual and in-person.


Camp Little Giant resumes in 2021 on limited basis

Camp Little Giant, the first university-affiliated camp for children and adults with differing abilities, is back this summer at the Touch of Nature Environmental Center.
