SIU students will present MFA thesis exhibitions this month

by Pete Rosenbery

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The SIU Carbondale School of Art and Design will present the culminating work of seven artists who will graduate in May earning the Master of Fine Arts degree through the presentation of their thesis exhibitions.

“The thesis exhibitions present the culminating work of three years of rigorous studio art production and research for graduate students pursing their MFA degrees,” said Mark Pease, an associate professor of digital media and head of the graduate studies program in the School of Art and Design. “Students will install displays of their artwork in various media including painting, drawing, ceramics, glass, sculpture and mixed media.”

The exhibitions will be open to the public and follow existing state and university health and safety guidelines. Individual exhibitions will be in SIU’s University Museum and the Surplus Gallery at the Glove Factory, both on campus, and Carbondale Community Arts’ Artspace 304.
