Planning and Budget Council meets

The revived Chancellor’s Planning and Budget Advisory Council held its first meeting on May 9. Members were nominated to represent constituency groups as well as the budget office, provost’s office and the Higher Learning Commission Accreditation Committee. The committee will meet bi-monthly with special meetings called as needed. 


‘Decal-By-Mail’ program available through July 1

The Department of Public Safety Parking Division’s “Decal-By-Mail” program for eligible faculty and staff will be available through July 1.


Saluki Drive repaving begins Tuesday

Saluki Drive will be partially closed for brief intervals starting Tuesday through June 20 for repaving. During the project, Lot 18, the circle parking lot directly south of the SIU Arena, will be accessible from a small service drive near the east end of Saluki Drive. Please make arrangements to enter campus from another entrance during this time.

More than 850 current and historical maps are available for viewing in Morris Library’s “Maps of Southern Illinois Online” collection.


McLeod Summer Playhouse 2018 season will entertain audiences

Class may be out for the summer, but that doesn’t mean that you have to wait until the fall to see good entertainment on campus.


Flexible schedule summer program starts Sunday

The university will offer an employee flexible schedule program again this summer. Employees may flex their hours in order to shorten a workday. The program will begin next week and continue through August 4.


Benefit choice open enrollment underway

The State Employees Group Insurance Program Benefit Choice open enrollment period continues through May 31 for all eligible employees. 


Student is excited about U.S. government agency internship

Emily Buice, a junior in the communication studies program, is spending 10 weeks in Brussels, Belgium for an internship with the public affairs department of the U.S. Mission to the European Union (EU). 


Women’s golfer earns national recognition as a scholar-athlete

Hanna Netisingha, a scholar-athlete who graduated this month with a degree in zoology, has earned national recognition as a 2018 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar.
