Linda Renee Baker, university professor, Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, served as a keynote panelist during the Emerging Women Leaders Conference on March 5 in Springfield, Illinois. The event, hosted by the House Republican Caucus, honored more than 50 women from all over the state who are making a difference in their communities.
Carissa Scroggins, assistant professor of practice, and Jiyeon Lee, collaborative pianist, School of Music, have been selected to participate in the 2024 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) intern program. Designed to enrich the skills of early-career voice teachers and collaborative pianists, the immersive program pairs participants with veteran master teachers who serve as mentors. The NATS intern program is from May 29 to June 6 at Florida State University in Tallahassee.
Greg DeYong, associate professor of operations management, College of Business and Analytics, served as installation officer for students chosen for membership in a new chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the most selective business honor society, at the School of Business and Economics at Universidad de las Americas Puebla in San Andrés Cholula, Puebla, Mexico, on March 1. Sergio Vela, dean of the school and professor, is a 2010 doctoral graduate of SIU’s business administration program.
