Jeb Asirvatham, Agribusiness Economics, is co-author of a journal article, “Obese Peers’ Influence on Students’ BMI: Heterogeneity in Race and Sex” published in September in Health Behavior and Policy Review. The study examines peer influence on obesity with a focus on race and sex.

Human Papilloma Virus and the Nurse’s Role in Education and Prevention” by Jennifer S. Sherry, Dental Hygiene; Sandra K. Collins and Marcea L. Walter, Health Care Management; Richard McKinnies, Radiologic Sciences; and Anthony Fleege, Mortuary Science and Funeral Service, is published in The Health Care Manager July–September 2018 edition.

“The Bible, Religious Storytelling, and Revolution: The Case of Solentiname, Nicaragua” by Jean-Pierre Reed, Sociology, was among the nominations for a 2018 Distinguished Article Award at the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion.

Junghwa Lee, School of Music, has been selected by the National Programming Committee of the 51 “Semanas Musicales” de Frutillar 2019 Music Festival in Chile to present a solo piano recital at the Frutillar Lake Theater Amphitheater in February 2019.

Seung-Hee Lee, Fashion Design & Merchandising, is recipient of Judge William Holmes Cook Endowed Professorship. The professorship is named for Cook, a former SIU student who had a long and distinguished legal career.
