Robert Hahn, Philosophy, has a new book “The Metaphysics of the Pythagorean Theorem: Thales, Pythagoras, Engineering, Diagrams, and the Construction of the Cosmos out of Right Triangles.”  The book, published in June 2017, is on Thales, whom Aristotle called the first philosopher.

Chet Langin, research coordinator, and Sai Susheel Sunkara, graduate assistant, Office of Information Technology, recently participated in the weeklong “Scaling to Petascale Institute” host by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Mary Bricker, Language, Cultures, and International Trade, is on the editorial board of “Bakhtiniana - Journal of Discourse Studies.” Bakhtiniana is one of the preeminent international journals focusing on discourse analysis. Her editorial post started in June. 

H.D. Motyl, Radio, Television, and Digital Media, had his essay, “Neddie and Jets,” a story about the loss of one dog and the entrance of another dog in his life, published in the summer 2017 edition of Northwestern University’s Purple Prose alumni magazine.
