Josh Vossler, Library Affairs, won the “Best of How-To Instruction” category at the second annual Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Film Festival for “A brief history of citation and how to get started with Animal Reproduction citation style.” The festival highlights and shares multimedia products developed by ARL libraries to increase knowledge and use of libraries, their spaces, services, collections and expertise. The festival was in May in Philadelphia. The video is available here.

Sam Chung, School of Information Systems and Applied Technologies, will present at the 2017 UKC Computer Sciences and Information Technologies Symposium in Washington, D.C., Aug. 9-12. Chung’s presentation is “From Programming to DevOps in Java.”

David Dillard, School of Music, will perform the role of “Mr Gedge” in Benjamin Britten’s opera, “Albert Herring,” alongside internationally acclaimed soprano Christine Brewer this summer at the Union Avenue Opera Theatre in St. Louis. Performances are July 7-8 and 14-15. 

Cheng-Yao Lin, Curriculum and Instruction, was recently elected to the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics board of directors. His three-year term runs ends in 2020. One of 11 board of directors, he represents the university/community college section. 

Alejandro Cáceres, Languages, Cultures, and International Trade, has been invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uruguay and the Uruguayan ambassador to the Organization of American States to give a lecture Thursday, May 4, at the Art Museum of the Americas in Washington D.C. The lecture is in observance of the 100th anniversary of the death of Uruguayan philosopher and writer José Enrique Rodó.
