Celebrate the holiday season with the Lights Fantastic Parade
The Lights Fantastic Parade is one of the region’s brightest holiday traditions — and it takes to Carbondale’s Illinois Avenue on Saturday, Dec. 5.
SIU Carbondale departments, organizations and student groups are invited to participate in the 35th annual edition of this cherished holiday tradition. The after-dark parade features, as the name implies, lights! On floats, vehicles, walkers and pets. The parade starts at 6 p.m.
Event organizers welcome floats, athletic teams, student organizations, academic departments, university administration and other campus groups to participate.
The parade and associated activities attract more than 15,000 spectators and visitors each year. This provides a tremendous opportunity for SIU to connect with families and future generations of Salukis throughout Southern Illinois.
