CARBONDALE, Ill. — Entries are now being accepted for Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s 2026 Homecoming parade, which will make its way through the city streets and onto campus, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.
Bands, floats and other groups are welcome to join the parade and compete for prizes. The entry deadline is extended to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14.
This year’s homecoming theme is “Decades of the Dawg: 75 Years of Saluki Pride,” a tribute to the establishment of SIU’s unique mascot in 1951.
Small and large floats, cars/trucks, walking and equestrian units can submit parade entry applications on the website. High school and junior high bands can apply online to participate as well. The parade entry deadline is extended to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14.
All parade participants should arrive between 8 and 9:30 a.m. to allow sufficient time for lineup. Find the complete rules and regulations along with registration forms and more on the homecoming parade website.
The parade begins at South Illinois Avenue and Mill Street, and the route wraps up in front of the Student Center on the SIU campus. Everyone is welcome to watch.
