Roundtable talks to examine support for first year students

Faculty, staff and graduate assistants are invited to attend three First-Year Experience roundtable discussions this fall about supporting students in their first year at SIU Carbondale. Fall 2026 roundtables will be held Sept. 21, Oct. 28, and Nov. 18. 

The sessions examine the unique transitions, challenges and experiences of first-time-in-college students and transfer students who are new to SIU. This is an opportunity to share concerns, discuss strategies to support students, and learn about available campus resources. 

All of the fall first-year experience roundtable events are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Faculty and Staff Lounge (Student Center Old Main Room). Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch, or purchase food from Student Center. 

Registration is not required, and participants may come and go as their schedules allow.
