Civil Service Council flower sale fundraiser underway now

SIU’s Civil Service Council is now conducting its annual flower fundraiser supporting the Education Assistance Program.

This fundraiser is a convenient way to purchase plants for Administrative/Professionals Day, Mother’s Day, or spring planting while also supporting student scholarships.

Purchase vouchers for $25 each. A voucher may be redeemed for:

  • One flat of flowers or vegetables (32 plants).
  • A 10" hanging basket.

Buy vouchers through any Civil Service Council representative or by contacting Diane McIntyre at dmcintyre@siu.edu.

Vouchers are on sale now and redeemable through May 15 at McNitt Growers, 78 Oak Ridge Lane, Carbondale. Plant selection may be limited after May 9.

The Civil Service Employees Council established the Education Assistance Program at SIU in 1982. The program provides financial assistance to dependents of SIU civil service employees who attend the university.

Employee contributions, endowment income, and fundraisers such as the plant support the program. Scholarships totaling $14,950 were awarded during the 2024–2025 academic year. The program has provided $280,858.49 in assistance to students since its inception.
