Free mental health first aid training and certification May 15
Faculty, staff and students can sign up now and earn their mental health first aid certification at no cost. SIU’s Wellness and Health Promotion Services is offering a training session on May 15 to help participants learn how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health challenges or substance use.
The in-person training is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Rooms 150/160 at the Student Services Building.
Register online or by emailing wellness@siu.edu. Due to space limitations, a maximum of 30 people can participate in the training, so early registration is encouraged.
Participants will learn common signs and symptoms people exhibit when experiencing mental health or substance use challenges along with how to best interact and connect them with the valuable resources and help they need.
Everyone who completes the 7.5-hour Mental Health First Aid Training course from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing will become certified.
