Symposium on Education Abroad is Feb. 13

All SIU faculty, staff and administrators are invited to attend the inaugural SIU Faculty and Adviser Symposium on Education Abroad, set for 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 13 at the John C. Guyon Auditorium and surrounding area at Morris Library.

The theme is “Building Bridges from Carbondale to the World,” and the goal is to help build a campus culture where all Salukis consider study abroad as an option. Organizers say that with careful planning and preparations as well flexibility on timing and location, it is possible for virtually all students to take advantage of studying abroad.

Symposium sessions and expert guest speakers will provide valuable information about study abroad opportunities and how the program works. They will cover a wide variety of topics, including program recruitment and marketing, advisement techniques, program building, best practices, the future of international education and more.

Attendees can also participate in programming workshops, discussions and networking opportunities, either staying for the entire day or coming and going as their schedules allow.

There’s no cost to attend, but space is limited and pre-registration is required. Sign up online.
