CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Teacher Education Programs (TEP) will recognize its most recent group of graduates during a special pinning ceremony at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, in Shryock Auditorium.

This ceremony represents the final milestone on the path to becoming professional educators for the 26 graduating teacher candidates who are part of the TEP from all across campus.

After completing three semesters of practical experience during part-time clinical assignments in classrooms, the teacher candidates devote their final semester to full-time student teaching, serving in dozens of schools all over the region. The cooperating teachers they served alongside will present them with their teacher pins, marking the end of their SIU undergraduate experience.

There will be a reception before the ceremony for the teacher candidates, guests, clinical educators and the cooperating teachers who supervised the SIU students.

Reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to cover the event. Organizers ask that those planning to attend email tep@siu.edu.

For more information about TEP or the event, visit the website or contact the TEP office at tep@siu.edu.
