Prospective students invited to SIU’s Open House on Nov. 7
CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois University Carbondale invites high school students, prospective transfer students and their families to the next Open House from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 7.
The free event, based at the Student Center, attracts hundreds of people. It includes a chance to meet with representatives of academic colleges and learn more about majors, attend the Resource Fair & Academic Showcase, and take a campus tour with a Saluki Ambassador. Participants will hear from current students and have a chance to win some Saluki swag.
“The Open House is an opportunity for students and guests to see for themselves what makes SIU extraordinary,” said Sarah Jiter, director of undergraduate admissions. “Even people who live close to the university may be surprised by what we have to offer.”
She noted that SIU is one of only 21 institutions in the country to be included on the Carnegie Classification of Institutions for Higher Education’s lists for Research 1 (the top tier) and Opportunity Colleges and Universities, or OCU (high access and high return on investment).
