Join a public discussion on the future of Carbondale Oct. 21 at SIU
CARBONDALE, Ill. — What should the future of Carbondale look like? That’s the topic of a public economic forum on Oct. 21 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and everyone is invited to attend and offer recommendations.
The Future of Carbondale Economic Forum and Panel Discussion is set for 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Lawson Hall, Room 231. The free event will focus on the factors and elements that are shaping Carbondale, its economy and its business environment and the impact the city and SIU have on one another. Refreshments will follow the forum.
The panel will include professionals from the City of Carbondale and SIU:
- Lynn Andersen Lindberg, executive director of Innovation and Economic Development and the SIU Research Park.
- Stan Reno, City of Carbondale city manager.
- Steven Mitchell, economic development director for Carbondale.
In addition, three SIU students from the SIUC Economics Club will serve as moderators:
- Alyssa Eynon, a junior economics major.
- Owen Erickson, a senior econometrics and quantitative economics major.
- Jack Schuerenberg, a senior economics major.
Sponsors include SIU and its College of Business and Analytics, the SIUC Economics Club and the City of Carbondale.
