SIU’s Student Health Services and Red Cross host Nov. 7 blood drive
SIU Carbondale’s Student Health Services is partnering with the American Red Cross to sponsor a community blood drive on Friday, Nov. 7.
The blood drive is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Health Center, Room 111. Register at redcrossblood.org by entering SHCStudentHealthCtr or call 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767).
“Student Health Services is committed to saving lives through blood donations,” said Shelly Ridgeway, Student Health Services associate director.
She noted that blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donations. According to the Red Cross, someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds.
“We urge staff, faculty, students and community members to donate blood to help ensure that local hospitals have a blood supply for emergencies and to meet ongoing needs,” Ridgeway said.
