Legislative staff tour SIU System campuses
Last week, state legislative staff from across Illinois received guided tours of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, the SIU School of Medicine and SIU Edwardsville.
“These visits provide a firsthand look at the unique activities occurring on each of our campuses,” said SIU System President Dan Mahony. “By opening our doors, we’re sharing not only the stories of our students and faculty but also the impact our universities have on the future of our state.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, showcase our work and highlight how higher education powers innovation, opportunity and economic growth across Illinois.”
Five staff members for Illinois House Democrats and Senate Republicans and a staff member of U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth’s office visited SIU Carbondale on Sept. 10. The group’s visit included University Farms, Dunn-Richmond Economic Development Center, Gower Translational Research Center and iFERM, the Center for Virtual Expression and more.
