CARBONDALE, Ill. — The popular Mountainfilm on Tour is returning to Carbondale Sept. 26, courtesy of Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Recreational Sports and Services.

The 7 p.m. showing at the Varsity Theater, 418 S. Illinois Ave., is free and open to everyone, but tickets are required. The doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Inspirational films

Mountainfilm on Tour features highlights curated from the acclaimed Mountainfilm Festival, held each Memorial Day weekend in Telluride, Colorado. Nearly 118 short, moving documentaries were incorporated into this year’s festival, and the Carbondale presentation will showcase the best of the best.

The action-packed clips are filled with adventure, culture and moving moments to inspire audience members to create a better world. See U.S. Nordic combined skier Annika Malacinski fight for excellence and equality and Eliot Jackson scrub-whip a mountain bike. Follow third-generation barrel racer Kanesha Jackson as she trains 13-year-old Kortnee Solomon and explore the newly rediscovered Eden re-emerging under Lake Powell. Skateboarding, salmon, underwater photography and much more can be seen in the stirring film snippets.

Find the complete playlist of film clips and more information about the festival and tour on the Mountainfilm Festival website.
