Conversation of Understanding on April 22 features graduating students
A virtual Conversation of Understanding on Tuesday, April 22, will feature graduating students from throughout the Southern Illinois University System.
“From SIU to the World: Insights from the Class of 2025” will have four student panelists sharing their unique experiences involving their challenges, successes and plans following graduation. They will discuss multifaceted aspects surrounding student success and the tangible benefits it provides for individuals and the broader educational communities across SIU campuses.
The free, virtual discussion is set for noon to 1:30 p.m. via the SIU System YouTube channel. Students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members from across the SIU System are invited to join the discussion focusing on augmenting students’ success as they navigate SIU programs, policies and environment from their first encounter on an SIU campus through graduation.
The panelists are:
- Paetyn Cage, SIU School of Medicine.
- Gavin Hardy, SIU Carbondale.
- Diamond Jackson, SIU Simmons Law School.
- Nicholas Young, SIU Edwardsville.
During a Q&A session, participants can discuss how SIU can provide students from diverse backgrounds and experiences with the tools and support needed to be successful citizens. Questions may be submitted before or during the event by email to doris.williams@siu.edu.
The Conversation of Understanding series began in June 2020. This is the fifth session for the 2024-25 academic year. The SIU System President’s Office and the SIU System Diversity Advisory Council sponsor the talks.
