CAM seeks flash talk proposals from campus community for AI and creativity symposium

CARBONDALE, Ill. — SIU Carbondale’s College of Arts and Media is seeking abstracts and presenters for flash talks next month that showcase the work by faculty, students and professionals using artificial intelligence in their innovative process and creative endeavors.

The free, public CAM x AI: Innovating Creativity Symposium is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 11 in Morris Library’s John C. Guyon Auditorium, the Hall of Presidents and Chancellors and the first-floor rotunda. The symposium will include virtual presentations in the afternoon. Online registration and day-of registration are available.

The flash talks will be limited to three minutes and open to SIU faculty, staff and students across campus to discuss their current AI-related creative activity, research or teaching. Participants must submit an abstract by Monday, March 24, with final presentation files due April 7.

An AI Student Work Showcase and Competition also on April 11 will feature selected student works at the symposium. Six winning students will receive $150 apiece; instructors of the winning students will receive $75 each to support winning design efforts. Students must submit a brief project description by Friday, March 21, with full file submissions due March 31.
