SIU’s ‘Love at the Glove’ 2025 set for Feb. 14
CARBONDALE, Ill. — The annual “Love at the Glove” Valentine’s Day art show tradition returns on Feb. 14 with an exhibition featuring works from Southern Illinois University Carbondale students, faculty and the community.
The student-run art show is from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Surplus Gallery inside the Glove Factory Studio Arts Building, 432 S. Washington St. Admission is $5. Proceeds from door entry and artwork submissions will benefit Critical Forum, also known as C4, a registered student organization.
Artwork sales are negotiated between prospective buyers and artists, with inquiries made on a case-by-case basis. Artwork prices will not be listed at the gallery but can be provided on a separate label by the artist, if desired. Critical Forum will have contact information for all artists and artwork on display.
The art can be adult-themed and is intended for mature audiences only and therefore is not suitable for children or minors. Many pieces also have tongue-in-check humor. As with all exhibitions, the artwork represents the viewpoints of its creators, not SIU Carbondale.
The evening will feature live music by Ultra Sex.
Artist submissions sought
The show encourages submissions across multiple mediums — two-dimensional works, three-dimensional works, installation art and performance art.
The $5 entry fee includes one artwork submission, with a $5 fee for each additional artwork. Artists are responsible for installation.
Artists who want to participate should bring their submissions to the Surplus Gallery, 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 14.
