SIU’s SouthernTECH research and business growth event postponed until March 4
CARBONDALE, Ill. — Due to uncertain weather and widespread illness in the region, the SouthernTECH 2025: Advancing SIU Research, Building Businesses, Igniting Smart Growth” conference, originally scheduled for Feb. 11 at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is being postponed until March 4.
The free event is geared toward regional business leaders who want to stay ahead of industry trends, government agency partners, graduate students interested in exploring innovative ideas and potential career paths, and university faculty, staff and administrators who are committed to the advancement of translational research and business development. The conference will take place at the same time and location, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Gower Translational Research Center (formerly McLafferty Annex), 1785 University Press Drive, Carbondale.
The event will feature informative discussions and sessions and expert insights along with details about resource opportunities. Included will be information about government programs that facilitate the translation of academic research into practical, real-life applications and solutions, new initiatives and opportunities available through the Department of Defense Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) and campus experts spotlighting SIU research, innovation and development.

The SIU Research Park, the Illinois APEX Accelerator at SIU and the Office of Innovation and Economic Development’s Experts-in-Residence Program are hosting the event, which is part of the APEX Accelerator’s eTech Talks series, which brings experts to the community to discuss emerging technologies.
