LinkedIn Learning is now available

LinkedIn Learning, an online learning platform, is available for free to current SIU Carbondale faculty, staff and students.

The Office of Information Technology and the Center for Teaching Excellence announce that faculty, staff and students will soon receive an invitation from LinkedIn Learning to activate their account. Access to the courses will be linked through a user’s SIU email address and credentials.

Although LinkedIn Learning is independent of LinkedIn’s social network, users with LinkedIn accounts may link those accounts. This enables any earned certifications to appear directly on a user’s LinkedIn profile, enhancing visibility to prospective employers.

The LinkedIn Learning platform offers access to:

  • Over 23,000 virtual courses taught by industry experts — Courses are available in 24 languages and offered in multiple formats to accommodate various learning styles.
  • Structured learning paths — Develop skills in a linear sequence with clear progress tracking and career-aligned milestones.
  • Exam preparation for professional certifications — Prepare for industry-recognized credentials through focused exam prep courses.
  • Certification opportunities for high-demand skills — Courses created in collaboration with leading organizations, including Microsoft, Adobe, Google and the Project Management Institute, allow users to earn certifications in sought-after areas.
  • Curated departmental content — Departments across campus can appoint curators to select courses and learning paths tailored to their specific areas, equipping team members with resources to enhance existing expertise or develop new skills essential for career advancement.
