Library Affairs hires Sharp Museum exhibits curator

T Lance, senior gallery associate of the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art at the University of Southern Indiana (USI), will begin serving as the Sharp Museum curator of exhibits next week.

Lance is an artist, educator and gallery professional. They earned their Bachelor of Science in studio art from USI, along with a Bachelor of Art in visual art teaching with minors in both P-12 education licensure and heritage administration from USI in 2018. Lance has more than eight years of combined experience working in university galleries and art collections as well as nonprofit art organizations.

T LanceAt USI, they managed gallery operations, planning and curating exhibitions, and worked with institutional partners on outreach and programming, supporting community engagement.

Lance’s work has been exhibited nationally and published internationally, and they have taught workshops in various media. As a student teacher, they instructed high school ceramics and received an Outstanding Future Educator Award from the Indiana Association of Colleges for Teacher Education in 2018. They served on the jury panel for the 2024 Power Plant Grant offered by Big Car Collaborative in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation and were recently featured on the Indianapolis WQRT radio show “Create Hear.”

Lance looks forward to developing inclusive exhibits that foster learning, pique curiosity and enrich the audience’s experience, and meeting and developing partnerships with diverse organizations and communities throughout the region.

Museum hours will expand in spring, but visitors can currently view the Carl L. Lutes gallery in the South Hall from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
