2025 dates announced for SIU’s Saluki Family Weekend, Homecoming
CARBONDALE, Ill. — Save the dates for Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s 2025 Saluki Family Weekend and Homecoming celebrations. Saluki Family Weekend is set for Oct. 3-5, and homecoming week will be Oct. 20-26.
Family Weekend Oct. 3-5
During Family Weekend, the SIU football team will play the Indiana State University Sycamores at Saluki Stadium on Oct. 4. A wide variety of fun, special, family-themed activities will be happening all weekend long.

Homecoming Oct. 20-26
The Homecoming celebration will be filled with activities such as a block party, court selection, the homecoming parade, tailgating, special entertainment and much more. One of the highlights is the homecoming football game in which the Salukis face the University of Northern Iowa Panthers in Saluki Stadium on Oct. 25.
The theme is “Saluki Spooktacular! SIU Homecoming 2025.”
“There is almost nothing more SIU and Carbondale than celebrating Halloween,” said Sean Cooney, assistant director of the Office of Student Engagement. “Students and alumni across generations all have shared experiences and memories of their Halloweens in Southern Illinois. So, with Homecoming landing just days before our favorite spooky day, ‘Saluki Spooktacular!’ was the perfect theme for Homecoming 2025. We can’t wait until next October and look forward to seeing everyone back in Carbondale.”
