SIU to host talk about managing floodplains, other issues

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Two officials from Jackson County will discuss floodplain and watershed management issues and concerns about the Carbondale urban heat index and zoning issues at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Room 752 at Morris Library on the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus.

Tyler Carpenter, GIS and environmental planning director, and Kelsey Bowe, environmental planning coordinator, will speak. Carpenter and Bowe are with the Greater Egypt Regional Planning Commission in Southern Illinois.

Carpenter and Bowe are the first scheduled for a speaker series put on by the STEM Education Research Center and the STEAM Ambassadors registered student organization.
