Lot 11, near Student Center, closed for Tedrick Center construction
Today (Aug. 15), SIU Carbondale and the SIU Foundation will prepare to build the Tedrick Welcome Center, a state-of-the-art facility serving as a hub for incoming and prospective students, campus visitors, community members and alumni. However, as with most construction projects, some people will be inconvenienced. Parking Lot 11, the red decal student commuter lot east of the Student Center, will be closed until construction is completed in May 2026.
Nearby blue decal lots for employee parking include 13A (southeast of the Student Center), 47 (west of Neckers), 89 (north of Banterra Center), 37 (south of the Engineering Building), 10 (east of the Student Services Building) and 2 (near Anthony Hall). Although employees may park in red decal lots as well, they are encouraged to use the blue lots to allow for spaces for commuting students. Be aware that Lot 13, east of the Student Center, is a paid lot.
Red decal parking options include the following lots: 48 (near the tennis courts), 89A and 52 (north and southwest of Banterra Center), 39 Red (split lot, south of Life Science III ), 4 Red (split lot, south of Communications Building), 40 (southwest of Communications Building), 44 (north of Communications Building), 6A (north of Morris Library) , 7 Red (split lot, north of Pulliam Hall) and 77 (Forest Street, south of Whitney Street) on the main campus.
