Community, vendors invited to SIU’s Foodie Fridays
CARBONDALE, Ill. — Foodie Fridays are coming to the Office of Innovation and Economic Development at Southern Illinois University Carbondale beginning Friday, Aug. 16, and everyone is invited. Taqueria Jimenez and Bake Me Happy are confirmed participants for the inaugural event, and others are pending.
On the first and third Fridays of each month, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., two to four local food vendors will showcase their culinary fare for the public to enjoy. The SIU Research Park, 1740 Innovation Drive, across U.S. 51 from Saluki Stadium in Carbondale, will be the host site for the events, which will happen rain or shine. Organizers say Foodie Fridays offer a great opportunity for SIU community members and the public to try different food options and support local businesses.
Any food vendors interested in participating in the future can email vsneed@siu.edu for more information. Participants must be an SIU-approved caterer or food truck.
