by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Dozens of people from the region will receive free dental treatment at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s “Give Adults a Smile Day” on Friday, June 14, and reporters, photographers and news crews are welcome to cover the event, which will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the SIU Dental Hygiene Clinic, 1365 Douglas Drive, west of the Banterra Center.

About 30 patients age 21 and older, who are uninsured or on a fixed income, will receive dental exams, X-rays and cleanings that day. About 30 volunteers will provide dental care, including a dozen SIU dental hygiene students, a graduate from the dental hygiene program, and registered dental hygienists and dentists from the area.

For more information, contact Jennifer S. Sherry, professor and “Give Adults a Smile Day” coordinator, at 618-453-8826 or by email at clnteth@siu.edu
