Vice Chancellor for Research Faculty Fellow program applications open
Applications will be accepted for tenured SIU Carbondale faculty to participate in the Office of Vice Chancellor for Research Faculty Fellow program beginning July 1. The deadline to apply is April 1.
The position will assist SIU Carbondale’s efforts to increase the number of applications to state, federal, industry and foundation funding agencies. The program provides part-time academic leadership experience to a university faculty member who has an interest in academic administration. Fellows will gain insight into administrative practices and procedures in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR).
The position is a 25% appointment that starts July 1 and continues until June 30, 2025. The appointment includes one month summer salary and one course release. Should the appointment end for any reason, the summer salary will be pro-rated on the months of service as a faculty fellow.
The fellow’s duties will include:
- Organizing research development and training programs for faculty.
- Assisting the development of large, complex research grant applications in response to funding opportunities identified by faculty and the OVCR.
- Identifying and connecting with appropriate funding agencies.
Application procedure
To apply, please send application material directly to Constantinos Tsatsoulis, vice chancellor for research, at tsatsoul@siu.edu. The application should include a letter of interest, current resume, and letters of endorsement from the applicant’s school director and dean. Endorsement letters must reference and agree to the course release. The course release will be funded through the OVCR.
The vice chancellor for research will select the faculty fellow based on relevant experience, commitment to research, demonstrated leadership potential, and existing needs of the university.
